We all have goals, dreams and aspirations. Perhaps you want to progress in your career, build stronger relationships, improve your wellbeing or simply feel more confident about the direction your life is taking.

Knowing what we want is often the easy bit. Getting there is harder. Life gets busy, other people need us, and the things that matter to us quietly slip down the list. Or we do try, and keep finding ourselves back where we started.

That is usually when people come to me for coaching.

What happens in coaching

In our sessions, we talk about where you are now and where you would like to be. We also look honestly at what keeps getting in the way. You choose what to work on. I ask questions, offer a different way of looking at things now and then, and help you plan small steps you can actually manage in your week.

We usually start by getting clear on what matters most to you. Goals that fit your values are the ones you are most likely to stick with, so it is worth taking a little time over this before rushing into a plan.

Coaching or counselling?

I am often asked how coaching is different from counselling. Put simply, counselling spends more time with painful feelings and what has happened in the past. Coaching is more about now and what comes next. Many people need a bit of both, and as a counselling psychologist I can help you work out what fits.

What people bring to coaching

People bring all sorts of things. Some are deciding on a career move, or feeling lost after graduation. Some want to trust themselves more, or find it hard to say no. Others are running a business and feeling stretched thin, or would simply like a calmer, more balanced life.

Sometimes there is a clear goal, like preparing for a new role. Just as often there is only a vague sense that something needs to change, without knowing quite what. Both are good places to start.

What you might notice

Coaching doesn’t hand you a script to follow. What people often notice is that they understand themselves a little better, feel clearer about their choices and find it easier to follow through. Small changes, kept up over a few weeks, tend to add up.

Getting started

I see people online, or in person in Palakkad. Sessions can be in English, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi or Telugu. In our first session, we talk about what you would like to change and what progress would look like for you.

If any of this sounds familiar, do get in touch or book a session. We can start with a conversation and see where it goes.
